SD-WAN service standardization is part of the initiative to define, deliver and certify a family of Carrier Ethernet, Optical Transport, IP, SD-WAN, and security services across automated networks using orchestration APIs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This SD-WAN standardization effort has included inputs and\ncontributions from numerous companies, such as Silver Peak, Cisco, Nuage\nNetworks, Nokia, TDS Telecom, Verizon and other MEF members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard describes the requirements for\napplication-aware, over-the-top WAN connectivity that uses policies to\ndetermine how application flows are handled over multiple underlay networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MEF 70 defines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Service attributes describing the visible behavior\nof the SD-WAN service<\/li><li>Rules associated with how traffic is handled<\/li><li>Concepts and definitions for items, such as SD-WAN\nUNI, SD-WAN Edge, Tunnel Virtual Connections, Connection Endpoints and Underlay\nConnectivity Services.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard offers numerous benefits and will help\naccelerate market growth and improve customer understanding and experience\nusing these hybrid network solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEF has published the industry\u2019s first standard (MEF 70) defining SD-WAN service and its service attributes.
